The Detector In The Shop

One Saturday afternoon I went to a fashion shop with my friends. I wanted to buy a pair of blue jeans. I got one. I took them to the cashier and paid for them. Then, my friends and I left the shop.
There was a censor clip on every piece of article. The shop assistant was careless. She forgot to take it off. So, when I left the shop, the detector beeped. The security officer shouted at me, “Hey, you! Stop!”  He caught me. Everyone in the shop looked at me. Then, he took me to the manager’s room. How embarrassing!
Shortly, the shop-assistant and the security officer said they were sorry about what had happened. The manager of the shop did too. They knew it was not my fault. Finally, the manager asked me to take one piece of clothing article for free. I took an extravagant gown. You know the price? It was Rp.102,900.00!

Learning English

Language is the mean of communication. Mostly groups of society have their own languages. Some of them appear the top global languages. Most people in the world hear about English, Arabic, and Mandarin. However English is the most global spoken language. Then if a man wants to catch a global goal, he has to master English.
Everyone recognize that English is an international language. English is used in writing and speaking by many people all over the world. It can be either as a first or second language. We even hear British, American, Australian, and even Singaporean English. Those various names of English are used as the first language in those countries. Futhermore, some countries have their own languages as a mother language but also use English mostly in daily comunication.
Besides usage in daily interaction, English is also used as a key to open doors leading to scientific and technical knowledge. No wonder we find manual guides and instructions of many devices written in English. Even if we have a pack of instant noodle, we will see the cooking instruction also written in English. This transfer of science and technic will include many countries in economic, social and politics developement.
Finaly, the most easily seen in the importance of learning English is that most top requirement in filling job opportunities is the ability using English; active or passive. Job applicants who master English are more favourable than ones who do not.
The above facts prove that everybody needs to learn English if he likes to greet the global

Gesang Should hold a National Hero Status

"Those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it" and "A great nation is one which fully appreciates its heroes." say popular English aphorism and national adage. Then, proposing an important person who has taken a role in our nation history is important. I think Gesang should be a national hero.
Who have never heard Bengawan Solo song? I doubt it if there is. This keroncong song has been a part of national voices. Gesang is a senior composer whose songs gained fame all the way to Japan. He has received a number of awards in art and everyone will admit that his art talent was dedicated to this nation.
Government has declared the other great composer; WR. Supratman and Ismail Marzuki as national Heroes. Gesang might not be compared to others, but in my opinion, Gesang is as great as them. All of them are maestros. Due to his keroncong music maestro, Gesang has taken a role in building our national identity.
It is obvious that government should name Gesang National Hero. We should not delay and wait for, in case, our neighbor countries or other international communities go a head to recognize him and grant an award for what he deserves.

Growing Number of High School Student Smoking

A survey has found about 13 percent of first-time smokers in the country are junior high school students. It also revealed 89 percent of young female employees were smokers.
The survey was conducted in five major cities across the country, including Surakarta in Central Java.
Muhammad Syahril Mansyur, the Surakarta Health Agency’s respiratory illness division, said that the finding of the survey showed an alarming growth rate of Indonesian smokers. "This situation is a cause for concern,” he said. “It appears the country’s younger generation is uneducated about the health risks of smoking.”
The Indonesian anti-tobacco campaign has reportedly been deemed as ineffective as the government refuses to sign the international convention on tobacco control. It said that cigarette producers contributed to a large amount to state revenue and gave jobs to thousands of workers.

Mangrove Trees

A mangrove is a tropical marine tree. Mangroves have special aerial roots and salt-filtering tap roots which enable them to thrive in brackish water. Brackish water is salty but not as salty as sea water. Mangrove trees are commonly planted and found in coastal areas. Mangroves can serve as walls of protection for natural disaster in coastal area like tsunami. According to BBC News, healthy mangrove forests had helped save lives in the Asia disaster tsunami and people tended to respect these natural barriers even more, especially after the tsunami.
There are several species of mangrove tree found all over the world. Some prefer more salinity, while others like to be very-close to a large fresh water source such as river. Some prefer areas that are sheltered from waves. Some species have their roots covered with sea water every day during high tide. Other species grow on dry land but are still part of the ecosystem.
The Times of India reported that rare species of mangrove had been found and was also known as the looking-glass tree, probably because the leaves are silver-coated.
Mangroves need to keep their trunk and leave above the surface of the water. Yet they also need to be firmly attached to the ground so they are not moved by waves.
Any part of root that appears above the water flows oxygen to the plant under water surface. as the soil begin to build up, these roots procedure additional roots that become embedded in the soil.

I.      Discussion
Although these results were obtained under laboratory conditions, they still establish physiological limits in terms of EWL for efts and newts. The ability of red-efts to tolerate dehydration better than newts might be adaptive given the problem of water loss confronting terrestrial amphibians. Indeed, the ability to tolerate dehydration is probably the most widespread physiological adaptation to a terrestrial existence in amphibians as a group (Chew 1961).
With respect to previous findings, it is interesting to note that the CAP of red-efts is similar to that of some other terrestrial urodeles (Ray 1958) while tolerance to dehydration in newts parallels findings of Littleford et al. (1947) and Houck and Bellis (1972) for some of the more aquatic species of salamanders.
The observation that red-efts had higher rates of EWL than newts did not support the second hypothesis. The explanation for these findings may rest with differences in body size. As Table 1 shows, efts were on average considerably smaller than newts. Since rate of EWL in amphibians has been shown to be inversely proportional to surface area (Schmid 1965), smaller animals should lose water from their skin more rapidly than larger ones. That the slopes of the regressions of rate of EWL on body mass in efts and newts differ significantly (-0.664 and -0.382 respectively) suggests, however, that these two forms respond differently in the test chamber. In efts, a small increase in mass leads to a greater reduction in rate of water loss than the same increment produces in newts. Such a reduction in EWL might help to offset the water conservation problems experienced by these small, recently metamorphosed juveniles.
The most probable explanation for the lower mass-specific rate of EWL in efts is that mass alone is not as good a predictor of surface area as it is in newts. Newts, although generally cylindrical, have large dorsolaterally compressed tails consistent with their aquatic mode of locomotion. Efts are more streamlined and possess tails that are cylindrical (and tapering) in cross section. Although measurements were not actually made, it seems likely, therefore, that in specimens of equal mass, efts will have a lower surface area than newts and realize a concomitant reduction in rate of EWL.
In light of these findings, it might be instructive if surface areas could somehow be measured so that newts and efts with similar values could be compared. With such a procedure, one might determine if there were any differences in the abilities of the skins of these two forms to retard evaporative water loss.

J.     Explanation

Tsunami

The term of “tsunami” comes from the Japanese which means harbour ("tsu") and wave ("nami"). A tsunami is a series of waves generated when water in a lake or a sea is rapidly displaced on a massive scale.
A tsunami can be generated when the sea floor abruptly deforms and vertically displaces the overlying water. Such large vertical movements of the earth's crust can occur at plate boundaries.
Subduction of earthquakes are particularly effective in generating tsunami, and occur where denser oceanic plates slip under continental plates.
As the displaced water mass moves under the influence of gravity to regain its equilibrium, it radiates across the ocean like ripples on a pond.
Tsunami always bring great damage. Most of the damage is caused by the huge mass of water behind the initial wave front, as the height of the sea keeps rising fast and floods powerfully into the coastal area.

K.   Review

2012 Film Review

2012 is Roland Emmerich's film which uses the Mayan calendar and other end-of-days prophecies for their doomsday scenario. It imagines the world coming to an end in 2012.
2012 film brings off a series of wonders. The movie hits its peak early on. It starts when Cusack drives a limo through the streets of Los Angeles as freeways and skyscrapers crumble all around him from the shock of a 10.5 earthquake. The preposterous flying sequence is equally thrilling. The climax occurs aboard the giant ark, when an equipment malfunction almost threatens the entire mission.
Unfortunately, the crucial sequence is not filmed or edited with the requisite clarity. In 2012 film, Emmerich leaves us befuddled as to exactly what is happening to whom. However, Emmerich' 2012 deserves credit for offbeat casting. Cusack supplies his trademark hangdog charm. McCarthy has perhaps his best role ever as Peet's cocky. Danny Glover lends dignity to the role of the tormented president. Chiwetel Ejiofor, as the chief scientist, brings a moving sense of anguish to a stock role. Platt has fun playing the villain of the piece, and Woody Harrelson also chews the scenery as a bug-eyed radio prophet trying to warn his listeners about Armageddon.
All in one, 2012's cinematography, production design and visual effects are awards-worthy. Music also propels the movie. It presents American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert, who provides a rousing anthem over the end credits.
